Setting Apart Blessing
Phoebe Kay Brinton, by the authority of the Holy Melchizedek Priesthood which we hold, we lay our hands upon your head and set you apart as a full-time missionary in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints to serve in the West Virginia, Charleston mission and we give to you all the rights, duties, responsibilities, blessings, privileges, that are associated with this calling, this assignment. Now, Sister Brinton, we bless you with the spirit, we bless you that you will be purified, sanctified, that you will be a pure vessel. We bless you to know that your Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ, know you personally and are pleased and cheer you on this day as you have prepared yourself and that you are in a position to serve the Lord. We bless you to know that you are clean before them, that you are acceptable to them, that they love you dearly. They have great anticipation and desires for you. We bless you at this time, Sister Brinton, with health, strength in your body that as you serve the Lord you will be protected from evil influences. That you will be protected from serious health or other concerns. We bless you that you might be able to rest well on your mission, that as you work hard you will be able to receive the rest that you need that you will have a wonderful experience, that your physical body will be up for the challenges. You will have days that you will be very tired, days that will be harder than you’ve experienced to date. We bless you with enthusiasm and encouragement and the ability to keep moving forward in faith and in diligence. We bless you that your spirit might be receptive to the voice of the Lord that you might be a mouthpiece for His spirit. We bless you with the ability to say and do those things that are important and so we bless you with confidence to speak the words that come to your heart and mind and to share the words with others because you will be impressed not to keep them to yourself but to share them with those you teach, your companions, others on your mission that you’ll have opportunity to interact with as you train or teach on your mission. We bless you with the gift of charity that you will love the people whom you serve. We bless you with the gift of empathy that you might be able to feel their needs, understand their thoughts, their concerns, their fears and also have the ability to join with them as they rejoice and to mourn with them and also to comfort them. We bless you with great success. We bless you with the ability to work hard and be an example. We bless you to be confident in yourself. We bless you that you might be able to teach the doctrines with purity and simplicity. We bless you that as you do so, you will have the ability and power unto the convincing them of the truthfulness of this great latter-day work. You will have opportunities to gather Israel in many ways and you will see many receive and accept your challenges as they return to the fold and also enter into the waters of baptism. We bless you to have a wonderful experience with your mission President and his wife as you get to know them well. They will bless your life and teach you many things that you will benefit from throughout the remainder of your life. We bless you with your family that you will have close connections, that you might have great inspirations and direction to share with your family that they might be edified and strengthened in their understanding of the gospel and continue to grow and improve. We bless you to be a great example to your family and we promise you that as you serve they will be blessed. We bless you that your mother and father might be with you in your heart and in your mind that you will feel them close and that your sisters and brothers and your connection with your family and friends will be close to you in your heart and mind. We bless you with these things. We bless you to be successful. We bless you with confidence before the Lord that you will have the ability to rise up to serve Him and be known as a representative of Jesus Christ. He is pleased with you and your preparation.
