Surprise!
HELLO everyone!
As you read this story, please just imagine being Sister glenn and I and i promise it will make you laugh. After a missed teaching appointment, we decided we would go try a potential investigator we had been trying to get in contact with that lived nearby, but that we had never met. After knocking on the door, we hear multiple voices aggressively yell "come in." Sister glenn and I look at each other and then back at the door like, 'uhhhh what do we do, we don't know these people'. They continue to yell for us to come in so next thing I knew, we were standing there in the door way, looking into a dark house with 30-40 people all huddled together. Obviously they were not expecting us, so you can imagine this moment when we all looked at eachother like what and who are you and what are you doing here. and then before we knew it they were again aggressively motioning for us to come in and be quiet. Sister glenn and I found ourselves huddled in the corner of this apartment, soon realizing based on the balloons, the cake, video cameras, and the 30 people hiding in the dark, WE HAD CRASHED A SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY MOMENTS BEFORE THE BIRTHDAY GUEST ARRIVED HAHAHHA IMAGINE BEING US. Huddled in this corner surrounded by strangers who are wondering why in the world we are there, when a 14 year old boy walks in the room and we all start singing happy birthday. Hahahhahahahha. Sister glenn and I laughed for years and years afterward. Oh the situations you find yourself in as a missionary.
Also, we are teaching this super old guy with no teeth and he is reading the book of mormon and he always tells us what's happening in the chapters he is reading and he calls lehi, levi, and nephi, nehi, and laban, la-bon. We try so hard not to laugh but hes so cute and funny and he is coming to see the truth of the book of mormon!
We had zone conference this week and it was so fun! We talked a lot about the book of mormon. "The truths of the book of mormon have the power to heal, comfort, restore, succor, strengthen, console, and cheer our souls" -president nelson. Reading the scriptures each day is by FAR my favorite time of the day. I always walk away uplifted, edified, and comforted. You can find so much peace from just reading even one verse!
I had to speak in sacrement meeting yesterday with a days notice. And my mission president came to my ward so I was so nervous but it went good haha. I had 5 minutes to bear my testimony of the savior. How do you fit that into 5 minutes?! I love to bear my testimony of him because it makes it even stronger. I am so grateful for my savior and best friend that walks with me and lifts me up every single day!
We met 6 super cool people this week that we are going to start teaching! TIMING is miraculous! It is so cool how god places people directly in our paths exactly when they need to hear his message the most!!! I love being a representative of jesus christ, carrying the most important message that people will ever hear!!
I hope you see all the ways that the lord's hand is in your life this week. The more we recognize it, the more we see it!! Thanks for the prayers! I love you! 0:)
All my love, sister brinton
