The way, the truth and the life
This week FLEW by. I am getting better at this whole missionary thing - I think ;) I witness SO many miracles every single day. We got TWO book of mormon referrals this week which NEVER happens. We went to one of the addresses and I guess we went to the wrong house but the person we talked to instead was super interested so that was a miracle!
The other referral we got was this lady that lives an hour away and she lives in the middle of nowhere up a mountain (in what's called, a holler). We read with her in the bible about the lady with the issue of blood that touched jesus and was healed. She asked us why we picked that story. We told her we thought god wanted her to hear it and then she told us she knew it was just for her, because she was having issues with blood and had to get surgery and now she is healed. she totally applied the story to her own life and it was SO COOL. she is so awesome and we met her whole family and they are all so sweet and ready to hear our message.
This week I really tried to work on bearing my testimony with everyone i talked to.
HOW COOL IS THIS QUOTE FROM ELDER HOLLAND ABOUT BEARING TESTIMONY AS A MISSIONARY - "When you bear testimony, it will bring an echo, an unconscious memory, that they have heard the truth before. A missionary's testimony invokes a great legacy of testimony dating back to the council's in heaven before this world was"
Everyone should go read the talk "missionary work and the atonement" by elder holland. Especially you missionaries!!
I think lots of times, as missionaries, we ask ourselves, why is this so hard? Isnt there an easier way? But missionary work is not easy because salvation is not a cheap experience. Salvation NEVER was easy. How could we believe it would be easy for us, when it was never, EVER easy for Him. We have to spend ATLEAST a few moments in gethsemane and have to take ATLEAST a step or two towards calvary. Someone a lot GREATER and a lot GRANDER, asked a long time ago if there wasn't an easier way. BUT the only way is through Him - the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
One day we were stuck in traffic and my companion saw this lady (samantha) on the side of the road so she got out and got her number. She was waiting at the bus stop for her kids. We went and visited her a couple days later and she told us that she struggles with bipolar disorder and social anxiety and that she has been praying for help from god and that she wants to be a part of a church family and we were like OMG WE WANT TO BE YOUR FAMILY. She told us that she knows god sent us to her at the perfect moment. We taught her that god loves her and that jesus christ understands perfectly what she is going through. She cried and cried and cried. It was beautiful how much it meant to her that someone knows what she is going through. Moments like that make it all worth it!!! We taught her again with her three cute kids and her husband, who is super cool. She just eats up every word we say. It will be hard to get her to church because of her anxiety but we are trying to get her more comfortable and to feel welcome. I am so excited to be teaching them!! They are awesome.
When people wouldn't answer their doors this week we started teaching their halloween skeleton decorations or their cats hahahahha.
The other day we went to the gas station to get a drink and we went up to pay and the guy at the register didn't make sister glenn pay and then straight up MADE ME PAY right after hahahhahahhaha i got wrecked. But it was funny we laughed for like 30 minutes cause it was so awkward. It's funny how dumb things like that make us laugh so hard hahahah.
ALSO there is a city here called pocatalico (like pocatello) and I thought it was hilarious
I hope everyone had an amazing week!! I am so grateful for you all. I LOVE YOU!
