Why????
ALOHAAA everyone! Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I felt so loved. I'm so blessed to have you!!
So much has happened. Sadly, I had to leave Sister Maughan and Martinsville :( I am now in Roanoke, Virginia with Sister Palmer!
It's been too long since I told a funny story so here you go. Sister Maughan and I recieved a book of mormon referral and we went to deliver it and this drunk guy who only spoke spanish started flirting with us in very broken english. "I will change my life for you", "I want to marry a white woman", "I will come to church for you" (If only you could see sister Maughans imitation of him). He reached out to shake my hand (I know I shouldnt have but I was stressed and didnt know what to do) so I shook it and I felt something suuuuper sticky....(but didnt look down cause I didnt wanna be rude) and so then we went and gave the book of mormon to the actual referral and I was trying to explain who mormon was while this drunk guy was obsessing over sister Maughan. I looked over and I noticed he had a huge cut on his finger and blood was dripping down his whole arm. I look down and my hand is COVERED in blood. HAHAHAHAH. So disgusting.
On a more spiritual note, we had the most AMAZING lesson with a lady named Debbie. She was a member referral so she came as well and we were able to meet in person! We taught her the restoration and the spirit was so strong. She TOTALLY just got it and everything clicked for her. In tears, she said she was so grateful to finally have the "whole knowledge" of christ's gospel. She had been searching for such a long time for answers and being able to share that with her was the most joy I have felt in a while. She is so prepared!!! She wants to be baptized on the 15th of August! She just needs to get married to her fiance in order to do so. I cannot explain how GOOD it felt to teach someone who was just so ready to hear our message. I haven't felt that in a long time. I know god is preparing people everywhere to accept and recieve the gospel. Oh also, during the lesson the member friend was zonkeddd on the couch, totally snoring. It was hilarious.
We are teaching a couple other really awesome people as well. I feel so blessed to be here in roanoke and I know god sent me here for a reason.
We are allowed to go out and do service for members now, and if I had a penny for every weed I have pulled, I'd be loaded.
Hank smith spoke to our mission over zoom which was awesome! He said "god spends most of his time with moms and missionaries because they are doing the most important work" :,)
As humans, we ask so many WHY questions. Why is this happeneing? Why do I have to go through this? Why was that nessecary? Why, why, why. But, "to one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible". When we have faith, we trust in God's timing and his plan for us. We trust that HE is the almighty god. HE sees the bigger picture. HE knows what we need, when we need it. We won't need an answer to our "why's" if we have faith that it will be for our benefit and for the benefit of those around us. I have definately had to trust that lately! Why did I get transferred? Why don't I have a chickfila in my new area? Why doesn't anyone answer their phone? Why won't they read the book of mormon? Why am I stuck inside? BUT I know that my Almighty God is doing what is best for me. I know that he knows each of you, just as well. Trust him.
"Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend". Mosiah 4:9
All my love, sister b
