Does God exist?
You want to know if God exists? Read this email.
On Saturday, we were supposed to have a "full contacting day" where all we do is try and get as many "made contacts" as possible (meaning we have a conversation with someone). I decided I needed EXTRA heavenly help so I decided to fast that we would be able to get a lot of contacts and find people to teach.
I am not kidding, I didn't set down my phone once that day. BUT, I also witnessed miracles that day. I messaged a ton of people on Facebook. Usually we just try to get to know them and then ask them if they would be interested in learning about the gospel.
I messaged a guy named Josh and he told me that he was in prison but wanted to talk over the phone. His 12 year old daughter called us so that we could do a 3-way call. He said he had been praying so hard to find help and that he knew that God sent us to him. He was so excited to talk with us and he was so down to learn more about the gospel. We taught him about the book of mormon and we are going to send him one and keep teaching him and his 12 year old daughter over the phone!
I messaged a guy named Austin, and come to find out, he lives with members!! (They are like his adoptive grandparents that took him in). He knows all about the church, and told us he wants to take the step to be baptized!! He has super bad anxiety and PTSD from the military, so he is really nervous to meet with us, but I'm so excited to teach him!! We have a lesson set up this week.
I messaged a guy named Mark. He agreed to do a video chat and learn more about the message that we share. He is from Jamaica and lives in Brooklyn, NY (I dont even know how I found him on FB). He has super good english, but Creole is his first language. And HE IS SO PREPARED. He said that he never gets on facebook and that he NEVER messages people back but he said that I looked like a very "principle" christian lady, so he decided to message me back hahaha. He said that he has been searching for truth and that he knows God sent us to help him down the right path. He opened up about his really hard life, and it was so cool to be able to testify of the Savior and the gospel of Jesus Christ that can bless him in every way! He said he feels so happy when he meets with us. The spirit is so strong when we meet with him and we have been able to have some really good lessons. He also told me I have "tall hair". So cute. He is so humble and ready to accept the gospel!!! It was such a miracle that we found him. God is so aware of people and their needs. I know that fasting brings forth the blessings of heaven.
Okay last story. We were supposed to meet a guy at the park for a lesson, but we could not find him so we were standing on this bike trail looking around and all of a sudden this biker stops super abruptly and goes "sister missionaries?!?". We chatted for a couple minutes and found out that he is a member, but hasn't been active for like 20 years. He told us that it was super funny that he saw us, cause he had just been thinking about how he "missed the LDS church" and was talking to a co-worker about it the other day. He rode away before we could get more info, but it was definitely not a coincidence that God placed us on that bike trail right at that moment.
THEN, we couldn't find the guy we were supposed to be meeting with so we decided to go for a walk instead. There was this guy riding a hoverboard unicycle thing and so I asked him what it was and he saw our tags and asked who we were and then told us that elders used to come over to his house all the time and teach him!!! And he wants to meet with missionaries again!! He was SO COOL and so open minded and willing to listen. We set up a time to go teach him this week. His name is Bill. I'll attach a picture with him.
Even though our lesson fell through, we were meant to be at that park, at that time!!!! GOD KNEW. He placed us there for a reason. If that doesn't prove that God exists, than idk what will.
I love being a missionary. I love seeing miracles each day, big or small. I love my Heavenly Father and his awareness of each of his children. God knows you. He is the details! Look for his hand in your life and you will find it!!
I love you.
Sister Brinton
